Adversity in Songs
“On Top of the World” – Imagine Dragons
I chose this song because it is one of my favorites. It talks about trying to take the easy way to the top but there are always troubles (lows) on the journey. Even when we have those lows it is hard work and determination that will bring us back up so we can climb further than we thought we could before.
“Eye of the Tiger” – Survivor
I chose this song because it is one of the most famous songs out there. The song talks a lot about not backing down from the fight because if we do not put up a fight against the bad things that will happen to us we will automatically lose.
“I Won’t Back Down” – Tom Petty
I chose this song because I stumbled across it while listen to the radio a while ago. The song emphasizes standing your ground and not backing down in the face of trouble. Even if we are at the gates of hell we should not back down from the challenge.
“Titanium” – David Guetta
I chose this song because I thought it fit in really well with the assignment. The song talks about how the world can do anything to us but if we have the willingness to stand in front of it we will succeed. People can keep on firing things at you, but it won’t do anything because you should power through the adversity.
“Fight Song” – Rachel Platten
I chose this song because it talks a lot about adversity. The song talks about a person being down and out but realizing that they can get out of it. The song talks about the willingness to be able to keep going after bad things happen to you.
“It’s My Life” – Bon Jovi
I chose this song because it shows how you should deal with adversity. The song tells that every piece of adversity you have gone through makes you able to deal with more. We will never be done with adversity, but we need to stand up to it every time.
“Skyscraper” – Demi Lovato
I chose this song because it correlates to adversity very well. The song talks about how we can grow stronger through adversity. Even if we get torn down we can build ourselves back up to something even greater than before.
“Keep Your Head Up” – Andy Grammar
I chose this song because the title basically tells you everything you need to know. The song talks about how through adversity we need to keep our head up so that we do not make it any worse. If we keep our head up, we can get through the adversity.
“I Will Survive” – Gloria Gaynor
I chose this song because the title is very fitting to the theme of adversity. This song talks about how dealing with adversity should not make us want to give up. We should want to keep going on our way and deal with the adversity because it is better to survive.
“Hit Me with Your Best Shot” – Pat Benatar
I chose this song because it is a classic. The singer tells someone to give her their best shot. This means that the singer is not afraid about what is going to happen. This is how we should be too; we should not back down from the troubling time.
