Baseball Video

Baseball Video

I made this video in my Video Editing class at Lincoln Lutheran as a junior in high school. This video was for a “Choose Your Own Adventure” project. I decided to make this video about baseball because I am very interested in the sport and I think that I am pretty knowledgeable about baseball. Another reason I did this for the project is because I knew my brother and my dad (who are the two people in the video) would enjoy or at least not loathe being in a video about baseball. My brother still owes me too because I helped him a lot with his videos over the last few years.

The thing I am most proud of in this video is the variety of angles I had for the shots of my brother and dad playing catch. I tried to get as many angles as I could to show everything I want to be shown to the people watching. The shot I like the best is the shot I got through the web of the glove. This wasn’t an easy shot to get though. It all depended on where the ball was thrown because if the throw was too far to the side then the shot would be ruined.

The most challenging part of making this video was finishing it even though it didn’t turn out at all like I wanted it to. After about a day of editing I realized that I needed a few more shots of playing catch, but with school, sports, and rainy weather I wasn’t able to get those shots. Another challenging part was trying to match audio with the video. I couldn’t use the original in the videos because it was too windy and I also didn’t want talking in the final product, which my dad and brother had quite a bit of. I tried to fix this by downloading baseball sounds from YouTube. It ended up being a little easier than I imaged, but putting the sounds in the video got really repetitive.

If I could do this project again I think that I would probably try to find a new topic. Like I said before, the video didn’t turn out like I wanted it to. I thought that I had enough footage for a 4-5 minute video, but I ended up having to add a few things last minute to fill time. I also wish I would have thought a little more about what I wanted the video to look like before I already had the footage. When I went outside to film was one of the first times I actually thought about what I was going to film.
